Capillary surgery aims mainly to implant hair on bald areas of a patient’s scalp. This painless operation consists of taking a strip of skin from the back of the head, called a follicular unit strip, which is then, with help from an electrical microscope with a fine scalpel, grafted into tiny grafts, each with few or individual hairs depending on the patient’s needs.
Micro-grafting: 1 to 2 hairs
Mini-grafting: 3 to 4 hairs
Classic grafting: 8 to 12 hairs
These grafts are then implanted into the bald areas of the scalp via incision or ablation of glands, using a trepan of 1 to 3 mm, in function of which zones need to be covered.
Capillary surgery is recommended in case of localised hair loss, whether it be in frontal or tonsular regions, around scar tissue, and under certain conditions, androgenic alopecia.
Carried-out by specialists experienced in capillary transplantation, capillary surgery represents real success. In fact, there is almost no rejection reported to this day. However, certain precautions can be taken in order to achieve a satisfactory result. Choosing a treatment before the procedure which is adapted to your scalp and supports rapid oxygenation and effective vascularisation, assures an improved conservation of the transplanted hair.
